Sediver composite line surge arresters with external series gap


Sediver surge arresters contribute to improve the quality of service of your High Voltage system by eliminating flashovers due to lightning. They are also a safety device that will protect crew, equipment and people in the vicinity.

Specific advantages of the external gap:

  • No ageing of the ZnO blocks which are only briefly stressed by power frequency voltage, temporary overvoltages and switching surges when a line surge arrester is performing its protection function
  • Elimination of arrester pollution problems
  • Reduced energy since fewer ZnO blocks are necessary for the follow current interruption (compared with gapless arresters) thanks to the combined effect of ZnO blocks and external gap
  • Increased reliability since there is no need for an arrester disconnector, which is often the weak point of gapless line surge arresters
