Determining the root cause of frequent flashovers of an old 345 kV line
Challenge
The 345kV line had been suffering from recurring flashovers issues related to initial design problems and old porcelain insulators, some of them no longer reliable.
What we delivered
SEDIVER has produced a study with extensive testing in its UHV Bazet laboratory with full strings using different configurations and playing with hardware selection to optimize the clearance of the central V string. A final solution was proposed to the customer for consideration in a future refurbishment plan.
